Eligibility Criteria

The service is free for Asian people who:

  • identify themselves as Asian

  • live in the catchment area of WDHB (North Shore, Waitakere, Rodney)

  • experiencing mental distresses

  • currently under the care of a specialist mental health service

Who can refer:

  • Waitematā DHB specialist mental health professionals including for the Acute teams, the PCLs, the Recovery (community) teams, the Liaison Psychiatry, MH ICU

Note:

AMHS is not an interpreting service. Please contact WATIS (Waitemata Translation and Interpreting Service) directly when an interpreter required.

How to refer

  • Through the online referral system on the AMHS website (email reply within 1 working day)

  • Online referral is a better way for faster processing

  • For the potential service users, they are supposed to visit their GPs first for a referral to the local specialist mental health service, and then a specialist clinician (e.g. the KW) could invite AMHS to the intervention
